Zouk ("we", "us", "the app") is built around a simple principle: the music stays in the room. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what choices you have.

1. What Zouk Accesses

Microphone

Zouk uses your device's microphone to detect rhythm in real time. Audio is analyzed only on your device. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted to any server. Once a sample has been processed for beat detection, it is immediately discarded.

Local Network

To synchronize the light show across multiple devices, Zouk discovers other devices on the same Wi-Fi network using Bonjour (mDNS) and exchanges beat events with them over a direct, peer-to-peer connection. No traffic is routed through any third-party server.

Now Playing Information

If you grant permission, Zouk may read the title and artist of the song currently playing on your device, only to display it during the light show. This information is not transmitted off-device.

2. Analytics & Diagnostics

Zouk uses Google Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics (where applicable), and Firebase Cloud Messaging to understand how the app is used and to deliver important notifications. The following information may be collected:

This data is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, location, or any other personally identifying information unless you explicitly choose to share it (for example, by emailing us).

3. Subscriptions & Purchases

Zouk Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Payment, billing, and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies to those transactions: apple.com/legal/privacy.

4. Push Notifications

If you opt in, Zouk may send you push notifications about party invites, new effects, or important app updates. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings app.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not allow third parties to track you across apps. The only third-party processor used is Google Firebase, exclusively for the purposes described above.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. Because Zouk does not require an account, most of your data lives only on your own device — uninstalling the app removes it.

7. Children

Zouk is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
